PR Account Director — Consumer & Telco Brands | London
The Opportunity
An independent, creative communications agency in London — small, fast-moving and fiercely ambitious, with the backing and resource of a major global communications network behind it — is looking for a PR Account Director.
This is a role for someone who lives and breathes media relations: building genuine journalist relationships, owning the press office function, and knowing how to pivot a story the moment it isn't landing. The agency works across consumer and telco/mobile clients, blending sharp traditional PR with social and influencer thinking to land stories everywhere from the national press to trade and lifestyle titles.
It's a tiny team doing big things — there's nowhere to hide, which means real ownership, fast development, and genuine visibility with senior leadership from day one. Telco experience is a strong plus, but a proven consumer PR background with brilliant storytelling instincts will also get you a serious look.
What You'll Be Doing
Client & Campaign Leadership
• Own a portfolio of consumer and telco/mobile accounts, directing strategy, delivery, budgets and timelines
• Interrogate briefs to find the strongest brand narrative and strategic proposition
• Provide senior counsel to clients on programmes and ad hoc issues, spotting problems before they land
• Oversee integrated PR and social campaigns from planning through to evaluation
• Manage budgets and the monthly invoicing process with accuracy and timeliness
• Act as a senior client contact while developing relationships across the wider team
Media & Storytelling
• Own the press office function — building and maintaining strong journalist relationships
• Shape stories that land in top-tier editorial media, and know when and how to pivot if they're not landing
• Maintain a strong grasp of the media landscape and share that knowledge across the team
• Blend traditional media relations with social and influencer strategy for a genuinely integrated approach
New Business
• Contribute to new business from brief-taking through to pitch and presentation
• Proactively seek out opportunities across the wider network and your own contacts
• Help shape AI strategy and forward-thinking approaches across accounts
People Management
• Manage and develop a small team, including performance, feedback and career growth
• Direct day-to-day account running for more junior team members
• Forecast hours and billings to plan capacity and support the wider team's development
• Foster a culture of curiosity, trend-spotting and sharp cultural insight
What They're Looking For
• Solid experience operating at Account Director level (or a very strong Senior Account Manager ready to step up)
• A track record running consumer PR accounts — telco or mobile sector experience is a strong plus, though not essential for the right storyteller
• Genuine creative flair for finding and shaping stories that land in editorial media
• Real, established journalist relationships and a sharp read on the media landscape
• Comfortable managing a small team and mentoring more junior colleagues
• A proactive, solutions-first mindset — someone who spots problems early and gets stuck in
• Strong written skills, including confidence drafting sensitive client communications
• A genuine team player with a sense of humour and the appetite for a hands-on, fast-paced environment
What's on Offer
• £55,000–£60,000 DOE
• A permanent, full-time role
• Hybrid working
• Genuine ownership and senior visibility in a small, high-performing team
• The backing and resource of a major global communications network
• A clear route for progression as you grow
