EVENTS & MARKETING DIRECTOR - DRINKS INDUSTRY
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a senior leadership role at one of the UK's most respected specialist PR and events agencies. Operating in the drinks and wine sector, this boutique, award-winning agency works with some of the world's most recognised brands and produces outstanding events for an enviable client roster.
As Events & Marketing Director, you'll lead the events function from the front — managing a small team, taking ownership of all events and marketing activity, and playing an active role in the agency's senior leadership team. It's a hands-on role with real strategic influence.
The agency operates a hybrid model with three set days in the office (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday), based in South West London.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
● Leading the planning and delivery of a wide range of events — press tastings, large-scale experiential roadshows, consumer events, pop-ups, retailer promotions, training programmes and competition management
● Working in close partnership with the PR Director on integrated campaign planning and delivery
● Managing client relationships directly, attending meetings and leading or supporting new business pitches and brainstorms
● Overseeing database management and CRM outreach campaigns for trade and consumer events
● Tracking and reporting on budgets and financial performance across all events activity
● Managing and developing the Events Manager
● Contributing to agency-wide management decisions through weekly leadership meetings
● Handling crisis management where needed
WHAT THEY'RE LOOKING FOR
● Proven experience in events management, ideally within a PR, communications or specialist events agency environment
● A genuine passion for or professional knowledge of wine and drinks — familiarity with the UK wine trade is a real advantage
● Strong financial acumen — confident creating and managing budgets across multiple concurrent projects
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high standard of English
● Experience managing and developing junior team members
● Comfortable managing contact databases and running CRM campaigns
● Highly organised, energetic and able to handle multiple projects at once
● Confident in client-facing situations, including senior meetings and new business pitches
● Degree-educated; WSET qualification or equivalent is a bonus
● Full UK driving licence is helpful but not essential
WHAT'S ON OFFER
● c£53,000 pa
● 22 days holiday plus bank holidays, with an additional day added each year after 2 years' service (up to 5 extra days)
● Your birthday off
● Hybrid working — Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in the office
● Friday 4pm finish
● Professional training allowance including WSET support
● Staff recruitment bonus of £500
● 5% of the first 6 months' fee from any new client you successfully introduce
