ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR - CORPORATE COMMS

The Opportunity

An independent strategic communications consultancy is looking for an experienced Associate Director to join their London team. This is a senior leadership role for someone who thrives on complex, high-profile communications work — spanning corporate comms, crisis management and public affairs.

The consultancy has a strong track record across a diverse portfolio of well-known clients. You’ll have genuine autonomy, a real voice in how the business develops, and a team around you that’s committed to doing excellent work — without the bureaucracy of a big network.

What You’ll Be Doing

•       Developing and executing complex, multidisciplinary communication strategies across a range of client accounts

•       Leading senior client relationships and steering accounts towards higher-value workstreams

•       Managing, motivating and developing high-performing teams — providing ongoing feedback and mentorship

•       Contributing to new business pitches and presenting confidently at senior levels

•       Identifying and responding to emerging issues and crises with clear, strategic thinking

•       Driving organic growth on existing accounts and maintaining external networks that support business development

•       Championing efficiencies across the team, including the adoption of AI and digital tools

•       Playing an active role in the consultancy’s culture and visibility — both internally and at external events

What They’re Looking For

•       At least 7 years’ experience in a communications agency or senior in-house comms role

•       Proven ability to lead teams and deliver high-quality work with reduced senior oversight

•       A trusted strategic advisor with a deep understanding of client industries and markets

•       Wide-ranging experience in crisis communications and issues management

•       A strong network of media and political contacts relevant to client portfolios

•       Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

•       Experience running training sessions and mentoring colleagues

•       Comfortable using digital and AI tools to shape strategic thinking and improve working practices

What’s on Offer

•       Salary: £70,000 – £85,000

•       Flexible hybrid working

•       25 days annual leave, rising to 26

•       Pension, medical insurance and life insurance

•       Salary exchange, nursery salary sacrifice and cycle-to-work scheme

•       Annual charity volunteer day

•       Employee Assistance Programme and mental health first-aiders

•       Continuous learning culture and tailored development opportunities

•       Office perks: breakfasts, lunches, snacks and drinks
