MARKETING MANAGER - APP GROWTH - IN-HOUSE ROLE

This business is on a mission to democratise news and build the world’s most trusted citizen journalism platform. Its AI-powered iOS and Android app helps everyday people safely, anonymously and ethically share real stories — and get paid for it.

The app currently connects a growing community of 25,000+ users with global publishers and broadcasters looking for authentic, hyperlocal content. The team is scaling fast across the UK, US and India, and they’re now hiring a Marketing Manager to help lead the next stage of growth.

The role 

This is a hands-on growth role focused on scaling the app’s user community through a mix of grassroots, community-led and digital marketing. The goal is ambitious, and the environment is startup-fast — ideal for someone who loves app growth, testing ideas quickly, and building momentum on the ground as well as online.

Key responsibilities 

  • Drive user acquisition through organic, guerrilla and digital marketing strategies 

  • Plan and run bold multi-channel campaigns to increase installs, engagement and retention 

  • Build and scale a university programme and community partnerships (UK, US, India and beyond) 

  • Use data to understand user behaviour, run tests, and optimise the funnel end-to-end 

  • Own and grow social, content and brand — keeping it sharp, human and high-impact 

  • Partner with product, ops and leadership teams to align marketing with launches and revenue goals 

 What they’re looking for 

  • Proven experience in app marketing / growth and community-led acquisition 

  • Experience building grassroots programmes (student ambassadors, city campaigns, partnerships) 

  • Strong digital marketing skillset (influencers, SEO/ASO, CRM, analytics tools) 

  • Startup mindset: independent, scrappy, resourceful and results-driven 

  • Strong storytelling and communication — able to sell a vision and execute fast 

  • Interest in journalism, social change and empowering real people to share real stories 

Package 

£36k + £12k KPI bonus (paid monthly) + equity + long-stay bonus 

Office expectation: 4+ days per week in the Central London office (5-day week). If based outside London, a WFH model can be accommodated.
